Netflix is attempting to gamify its content with the roll-out of Max to Playstation 3 (PS3) viewers.

The launch of Max aims to help PS3 customers enagage with Netflix content, asking questions of them as to their mood and tastes in TV programmes or movies and then uses its algorithms to offer predictions as to what they would enjoy.

The service also includes a game that allows users to rate titles within genres they enjoy using a five star scale, before Max offers its thoughts on suitable content by either asking a further question or simply choosing based on past selections.

An introduction to Max featuring Todd Yellin, vice president of product innovation at Netflix, was posted on the service’s blog on Friday (see above.)
