The Herald & Times Group’s marketing manager and circulation director are two of the roles being made redundant as part of the publisher’s latest round of job cuts.

As reported last week, around 20 jobs are under threat at the Glasgow-based, Gannett owned publisher of The Herald, Sunday Herald and the Evening Times, with the company now having confirmed to The Drum that Margaret Hoisington, who has been marketing manager there for nearly 20 years, is one of those facing redundancy.

A spokesperson for the company told The Drum: “As a result of difficult trading in the Herald & Times Group's newspaper division, the company has decided to rationalise the management structure within the business.

“As part of these plans it is proposing to make the roles of circulation director and marketing manager redundant and it is now in consultation with the affected staff,” they added.

Other roles in the editorial production desk are also under threat, making up the majority of the positions at risk as the publishers aim to bring in new technology.
