The date for the Global Radio v Competition Commission tribunal has been set for 2pm on Wednesday 3 July.

A first Case Management Conference has been scheduled to further the debate over Global Radio's controversial buyout of GMG Radio, now known as Real and Smooth Ltd.

Global Radio has chosen to challenge the Competition Commissions ruling that the network must sell a number of stations on a number of judicial grounds, including, according to Radio Today, that "the Commission failed to take reasonable steps to acquaint itself eight the relevant information to enable it to answer the statutory question referred to it, namely to determine whether the Transaction had resulted, or may be expected to result in a 'substantial lessening of competition'."

Global Radio also challenges the Competition Commission's decision to reject key survey evidence it had asked the network to gather for the investigation and says the Commission erred in law in some of its findings, including the North West.
