An Angelina Jolie stunt double has launched the United States' first phone hacking court case against News Corporation, with Eunice Huthart claiming her phone messages were hacked by the News of the World.

Star: Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider

Huthart worked with Jolie on movies Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Mr and Mrs Smith, and tha pair are said to be close friends. It's alleged that the News of the World - which was shut down after phone hacking revelations in the UK - hacked messages on Huthart's phone from Jolie.

The alleged incidents cover the period during which tabloid speculation about a relationship between Jolie and married actor Brad Pitt were rife. The content contained in some of the phone messages are claimed to have been similar to the content carried in a Sunday tabloid paper about Jolie's plans to quit acting.

Huthart also claims messages from her husband and daughter were intercepted by the paper and is seeking damages from News Corporation.
