During Sunday’s NBA Finals game, an advert aired offering one million Samsung Galaxy phone users the new Jay-Z album, three days before its general release, absolutely free.

The deal for the digital rights set Samsung back roughly $5m, according to the Wall Street Journal.

A dedicated website has also been set up counting down until the album can be downloaded using the bespoke app that's coming to the Play store on 24 June.

The Samsung advert for the album received nearly two million views in less than 24 hours following its initial airing.
