Harrods has appointed McCann London to work on a number of projects for the luxury department store starting with the launch of a brand campaign.

The appointment follows a competitive pitch and is the first time in several years that Harrods has engaged an outside agency to develop its creative work and is part of a new marketing strategy for the Knightsbridge-based store.

“We are delighted to be working with McCann London. From the outset McCann demonstrated their innate understanding of the luxury market and Harrods’ unique position within it. The strategy and work they have presented is the start of, what we hope will be, a long collaboration that will influence many parts of our business,” said Harrods group director of corporate affairs, Katharine Witty, of the appointment.

McCann London CEO Chris Macdonald added: “It’s a rare opportunity to be able to work with a company as dynamic as Harrods at a time when vast changes in the luxury market are taking place. The overall sector is growing rapidly and we’re proud to help Harrods ensure that they meet their ambitious targets.”
