Andrew Rashbass to leave chief executive role at The Economist for Thomson Reuters position

Thomson Reuters has announced the appointment of Andrew Rashbass - currently chief executive of The Economist Group - to lead it news and media business.

Appointment: Rashbass will go to Thomson Reuters in the summer

Rashbass leaves The Economist after 15 years to take up the London-based role in the summer.

Rashbass commented: "I am excited to be joining Reuters with its unmatched commitment to reporting with speed, accuracy, integrity and independence. As well as being, or in fact because they are, essential to Reuters journalism, these characteristics can also drive huge commercial success."

Chairman of Thomson Reuters, David Thomson, added: "This key appointment underlines our passionate commitment to Reuters news.
