Orkney Tourism Group has awarded its digital and web development account to Forres-based agency OpenBrolly.

A total of 32 applications were received for the public tender. OpenBrolly has now been tasked with developing the tourism board’s digital strategy as well as co-ordinating its range of websites and introducing the group to social media.

The account, worth an estimated £10,000, will also see OpenBrolly creating an app for the tourism board running across iOS and Android and possibly Windows Mobile.

At the time of issuing the tender Orkney Tourism Group said its main URL would need to become a portal for all things Orkney, to help potential tourists find all they need. In terms of social media the group said it was keen to start using Facebook and Twitter and would not be adverse to sampling newer platforms including Pinterest, Foursquare and Audioboo.
