The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has unveiled an anti-domestic abuse advert, as part of the NO More Abuse campaign which has been backed by the King Khalid Charitable Foundation.

The advert shows a hijab-clad woman, with just her eyes visible through the slits in her veil.

However, one of her eyes has been blackened and is bloodshot, with the slogan underneath reading: “Some things can’t be covered – fighting women’s abuse together.” T

In other campaign literature, it is also stated that: "The phenomenon of battered women in Saudi Arabia is much greater than is apparent on the surface. It is a phenomenon found in the dark. We want to achieve justice for all women and children exposed to abuse in all parts of the Kingdom.”

The campaign aims to “provide legal protection for women and children from abuse in Saudi Arabia,” and has encouraged Saudis to report cases of domestic violence to nearby help centres.
