Talk Talk has partnered with Digital Theatre to launch a new on-demand service to YouView, allowing subscribers to watch live theatre performances.

The collaboration has offered a range of live theatre performances through on-demand and the exclusive Digital Theatre Channel, including Shakespearean plays and popular stage musicals such as Wicked, Sound of Music and Les Miserables.

In addition, HD content will be added to the service from theatres across the UK.

It is hoped the service will make theatre viewing more accessible and affordable, as currently only 20 per cent of British people say they regularly go to theatre performances.

The service has been supported with an online promotional video.

Digital Theatre's co-founder and CEO Robert Delamere said: "We're delighted to partner with TalkTalk and bring the best of British theatre to living rooms across the UK via the TalkTalk Player and our new Digital Theatre Channel.

"This is a unique opportunity for us to gain new audiences for our productions and the world class talent working in the British theatre scene."
