The latest ad by Ikea showed a family of garden gnomes being ousted by Ikea garden furniture: but now the protest group OMG (Opposing Mindless Gnomism) is striking back in a new video.

Created by garden company UK Water Features, the video argues that gnomes are a traditional feature of the British garden, but Ikea has ‘tossed them aside like an unwanted meatball’.

The video, set to be delivered to Ikea today, reveals that Billy bookcase has been taken hostage – and will become sawdust if Ikea does not admit the importance of gnomes.

Garden gnome Walter said: “Us gnomes aren’t aggressive by nature – we’re more used to handling fishing rods than offensive weapons – but you can only push somebody so far. We’ve got nothing against Billy personally. We know the bookcase has pride of place in homes across the world but we need to make a stand against this orchestrated attack on gnomes. Gnomism can’t be tolerated.”

Eddie Riby, director of UK Water Features, added: “We know gnomes are a bit like Marmite – you either love them or hate them – but they do have a huge fan base out there. Walter’s standing up for all our customers who love their gnomes. It’s a David and Goliath battle but he’s got our full support.”

The ‘We Say Yes To Gnomes’ video was produced by Sixty Second Video.
