Guy Parker, chief executive of the ASA, has been appointed as the chairman of the European Advertising Standards Alliance.

He succeeds Ildiko Fazekas, of the Hungarian self-regulatory organisation, Önszabályozó Reklám Testület, and will hold the role for two years.

Parker said: “I’m honoured to be elected chairman of EASA, an organisation that has grown in stature over the last 20 years, supporting and promoting responsible advertising through effective self-regulation across Europe and beyond. I look forward to leading EASA, building on our legacy and tackling regulatory challenges in an increasingly globalized and connected world.”

His new role will run concurrently with his responsibilities leading the ASA.
