Roadside eatery Little Chef has again been placed on the market by RCapital, six years after they stepped in to save it from administration.

The business is thought to have spiked the interest of a number of convenience stores and coffee houses drawn by its prominent A-road locations and large car parks.

In recent years celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal has been employed to revamp the chains menu in a bid to dispel preconceptions about the restaurant chains food and a restructuring process has seen its 200 outlets reduced to just 83 of the most profitable.

RCapital said in a statement: “Over the last six years, RCapital has successfully completed an operational turnaround and financial restructuring, which has repositioned the business and brought the group of companies back into profitability.

"The move was part of a long-term critical rebuild strategy to create consistently profitable sites against the backdrop of one of the worst recessions in living memory.

"With the turnaround successfully completed, it's time to explore the next phase for the food service operator."
