Starcount joins forces with YouTube for first-ever Social Star Awards

Social media trendspotter Starcount has entered into a partnership with YouTube to bring the inaugural Social Star Awards to an international audience in May.

“Starcount is already demonstrating the power of social media’s billion-and-a-half global users, and their ability to influence celebrities and decision-makers. By working together with YouTube and harnessing the reach of Google and Google+, we will showcase the megastars of social media to a global audience for the world’s only true multi-genre awards event,” said Starcount CEO Drew Thomson.

Supported by the Singapore Socials, Starcount will bring together stars and fans of social media for The Social Star Awards with a 24 hour-long event that shows social media at the cutting edge of new technology.

YouTube has been brought on-board to stream the Awards live via a bespoke YouTube channel, the ceremony will also feature live on Google+ Hangouts with events taking place across three international YouTube Spaces, from Tokyo to London to Los Angeles.

Thomson added: “We anticipate that this could be one of the largest live stream events to date and by featuring live Google Hangouts across three continents, it will be a genuinely global showcase of the importance of social media. This is a transformational deal for Starcount and validates our unique offering in the market.”
