Facebook and HTC are to showcase the fruits of their tie-up later this evening with reports suggesting that Facebook will publicly unveil its long awaited ‘Facebook phone’ at an event in its San Francisco headquarters later this evening.

The device is expected to sport fully customised software which will enable users to customise functions such as camera and home screen.

Dubbed Facebook Home the software can be downloaded to any Android phone and is the result of a two-year collaboration with phone manufacturer HTC.

Facebook has pulled a veil of secrecy over their plans for now, saying only ‘Come see our new home on Android’ in their invitations but rumours are swirling around some of the potential features that could be housed under the bonnet of the gadget.

These include an ‘uberfeed’ where information relevant to users will be pulled from a variety of sources and displayed on the locked homescreen. Speculation also suggests that enhanced caller identification could see details such as caller location and prompts displayed when communicating.
