Essence has appointed former head of online marketing for eBay Minal Saigal to the role of managing director of EMEA as it continues to drive its international footprint.

Minal, who was previously head of special projects at Google, will be responsible for driving and managing growth for the digital agency across EMEA.

She brings seven years of brand-side marketing experience to the agency, having worked in a variety of senior roles including head of marketing at eBay and more recently as a freelance marketing consultant for retail brand ASOS.

During her time at eBay she was responsible for leading strategy across affiliates, search, display and partnerships.

Saigal selected Essence as eBay’s digital agency in 2008. “I appointed Essence as our digital partner of choice at eBay because of its clear ability to match an understanding of analytics with brilliant creative output, as well as the excellent quality of people,” she said.

The news follows a string of other key senior appointments at the agency including Walker Media’s former managing partner of digital Mark Syal as head of media, EMEA. It also hired Erfan Djazmi from Mediacom Sydney as head of mobile, EMEA.
