Aegis Media extends reach in China with WonderAd acquisition

Aegis Media has agreed to wholly acquire digital planning and buying agency Beijing Wonder Advertising as it expands its footprint into China.

Headed up by Eric Liu, CEO and founder of WonderAd, the agency, which specialises in the online gaming sector, also offers marketing capabilities across eCRM and performance marketing, with offices across Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, with around 200 staff.

Gaming clients include SNDA, Tencent Gaming, NetEase Gaming, RenRen Gaming and Perfect World, while non-gaming clients include, TaKang Life Insurance, Etstock and ICBC/Credit Suisse.

Nick Waters, CEO Aegis Media Asia Pacific said: “The acquisition of WonderAd advances our strategy of investing in high quality digital assets in China. The agency has a strong management team, excellent performance technology and capabilities, and a growing client base. The addition of WonderAd to the group takes Aegis Media to a clear leadership position in digital media in China.”

Following the completion of the full acquisition, WonderAd will be aligned with Carat.
