Entrepreneur Peter Jones will today reopen six stores of Jessops, which entered into administration last year, claiming that less stores and a better online offering is the future for successful high street retailers.

Jones, best known as one of the Dragons on BBC hit series Dragon’s Den, has invested around £5 million into the camera retail stores, with six set to reopen this week, and another 30 in the coming month.

He told BBC Five Live’s breakfast show that the same model would probably have saved major high street retailers such as HMV by opening single stores in busy city areas, rather than having more than one presence.

"We're not going to be coming back into the high street and open 200 stores again, those days are over," Jones explained.

The online service for the chain is also expected to be much improved, which he indicated would be the main retail space for the company.
