Elmwood ranks top overall for The Drum’s Design 100
Elmwood has come out as the most successful design agency over the last year, according to this year’s The Drum Design 100, while Design Bridge topped the financial poll for this year.
Elmwood was identified as being the most rounded design agency in the UK, ranking highly in the peer poll, the financial poll and client poll, finishing 11th, sixth and 30th respectively.
Meanwhile, Design Bridge established in 1986, has ranked top of the financial list for the design sector for this year, posting turnover of £17,250,000 for the most recent financial year, fee income of £14,400,000 and staff numbers at 60, meaning it had a fee income per designer of £240,000.
Second on the poll this year is Connect, followed by Emperor Design, JKR and Pearlfisher, while the rest of the top 10 was rounded up by Elmwood, The One Off, balloon dog, Green Room, HRG UK Limited and Coley Porter Bell respectively.
The poll found that the average UK design turnover was £3.16m while the average fee design income was £2.33m. Over the last year, the average design turnover growth was 18 per cent and average design fee income growth was 22 per cent.
This year's poll has included much more detail than in previous year, including financial analyses such as design fee income, design fee income growth, year-on-year financial growth, turnover growth and fees per designer, while also offering agencies the chance to rate their peers, and for clients to highlight their own experiences with agencies.
Topping the client poll was The Spirit Of..., while the winner of the design agency peer review was Someone in London.
The poll has also been divided into regions, with agencies topping regionally specific polls too.
