Creative England has announced the appointment of Jaspal Sohal as its head of games.

Sohal, a successful software and internet entrepreneur, will now play a key role in shaping Creative England’s support strategy for the games and digital media sector, promoting innovation, creating new markets and developing new skills.

Of the appointment, Sohal commented: “Creative England has built a passionate team and I'm excited to be joining an organisation that recognizes the importance and relevance of the gaming industry. I look forward to working with the incredible gaming talent we have in England and introducing new initiatives to support continued growth for the gaming sector.”

Sohal began his career in 2002 when he founded a successful software company whose flagship software is used across a variety of digital and creative sectors. More recently, his software has allowed game developers to build and self-publish cross-platform games on digital marketplaces. Prior to starting his own company, Sohal worked as a new media designer completing digital contracts from Aston Martin, Jaguar, RNIB and the BBC.
