Paddy Power has been forced to take down its billboard ad poking fun at Chelsea striker Fernando Torres because it was put up above Stanford Bridge illegally.

The Drum recently reported that Chelsea FC had asked the ASA to take the ad down over image rights, to no avail.

The billboard ad read: “Fernando - We've got an onion bag you can actually find. It's in the burger van mate. Get your hair net on.”

Councillor Greg Smith, deputy leader of the council, said: “Poking fun at beleaguered Premier League footballers is not necessarily a problem as long as the adverting hoardings are legal.”
