BskyB has today announced the appointment of Adam MacDonald to run Sky 1 and Sky 2.

The announcement follows BBC executive Liam Keelan’s decision last month to turn down the role; instead joining BBC Worldwide.

Joining from the role of vice president of History channel parent A+E Networks UK, MacDonald said: "I have totally loved my time at A+E Networks UK and we have made huge strides forward with our portfolio of channels, both in the UK and internationally.

"I'll miss the team greatly – but they are incredibly well equipped to continue the impressive progress the company is making."
