Ibis Hotels has launched the Sleep Art app following the success of the Ibis Sleep Art Project launched in October last year.

The Sleep Art Project featured a robot and 80 sensors that interpreted Ibis customers’ sleep on canvas in real time. It ran for a three-month period in Paris, Berlin, London and Warsaw.

The idea behind the app, produced by ACNE Production, is to bring the Sleep Art experience to everyone. It allows users to see their sleep transformed into a digital work of art as their iPhone becomes a sensor that captures movements and sounds.

The user sets the app’s alarm clock and places the phone on the mattress. The app runs all through the night and the sleeper is woken by Sleep Art’s alarm. Users can follow the progress of how the painting took form on the screen.

Users can compare each night’s sleep and share results via email or on Facebook.

The app can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store.
