Skyscanner has announced the appointment of Andrew Cocker to the newly created role of chief marketing officer.

Joining from the role of marketing director for Europe at Yahoo!, Cocker will oversee Skyscanner’s international marketing activity to support the company’s rapid growth.

Cocker said: “Skyscanner makes the expression ‘growth business’ look like an understatement and it’s an incredibly exciting company to be part of. There’s a really talented and ambitious team in place that has built the Skyscanner site into the number one travel search site in Europe and has done that without any above the line advertising spend. My first priority is to hire a full team and define our strategy so we can take advantage of the huge opportunities this business can benefit from.”

Prior to his six years holding various roles at Yahoo!, he spent eight years in marketing and commercial roles at marketing agency Leo Burnett and in-house at Freeserve, having started his marketing career at McDonald’s.

Gareth Williams, Skyscanner’s co-founder and chief executive, commented: “Our goal is to make Skyscanner the most trusted and used travel brand on the web. Andrew’s the perfect fit to build rapidly on the great marketing work done to date, and do it at scale, globally, and with greater resources available.”
