Chelsea FC is reportedly bringing in a legal team over the recent Paddy Power ad which suggested the £50 million striker, Fernando Torres, might be better suited to flipping burgers.

The advert, situated close to the Chelsea training grounds, reads: “FERNANDO. We’ve got an onion bag you can actually find. It’s in the burger van mate. Get your hair net on.”

Chelsea has repeatedly asked Paddy Power and the Advertising Standards Authority to take the posters down, to no avail. And given the rapid spread of pictures of the billboard across Twitter and Facebook, it seems unlikely Paddy Power will be doing anything about it in a hurry.

This is not the first time Paddy Power has been faced with legal action over its cheeky ads. Last year Olympic body L.O.C.O.G tried to take action over an ad which announced the betting site’s sponsorship of the London Games – in France – with no success.
