GM appoints former VW executive as head of global marketing

General Motors has announced the appointment of a former VW executive to serve as its new head of global marketing operations.

The new role will see Tim Mahoney take on the role in addition to that of chief marketing officer Global Chevrolet following a spell as executive vice president and chief product and marketing officer at VW of America.

Mahoney will report direct to Alan Batey, GM’s interim global chief marketing officer, from April 1 when he will assume responsibility for the development and execution of Chevrolet’s new global brand communication platform, Find New Roads.

Mahoney has a wealth of experience in the sector having previously worked for Porsche Cars North America and Subaru of America.
