Ben Goldsmith concedes acrimonious divorce tweets were ‘stupid’

Ben Goldsmith, the financier son of Sir James Goldsmith, has conceded that a series of acrimonious tweets directed at his wife as their relationship fell apart were ‘stupid’.

Goldsmith flew into a jealous rage when he uncovered incriminating texts on Kate Rothschild’s, phone, suggesting an affair with an American rapper - Jay Electronica.

Upon reading it Goldsmith branded his wife’s behaviour ‘appalling’ and is alleged to have slapped the banking heiress and kicked a toy truck at her in a blind rage.

The couple also engaged in a series of furious ping pong exchanges on Twitter , to the dismay of their hired PR consultants.

The couple are presently finalising their divorce although have since patched things up to some degree with both spending time together with their children.

Commenting on the episode Goldsmith said: “I was stupid to have said anything on Twitter. It’s no excuse, but I was devastated.”

Both banking dynasties are set to be re-joined in marriage soon however with the pending marriage of Goldsmith’s older brother, Zac, to Rothschild’s younger sister, Alice.
