Vodafone and BAE Systems announce strategic security and mobile partnership

Defence contractor BAE Systems has announced the formation of a new strategic partnership with mobile communications specialist Vodafone to provide businesses with a range of advanced communications security products and services.

The five year partnership will initially focus on smartphones and tablets with Vodafone also named as BAE’s preferred supplier of mobile communications equipment outside the US.

The partnership will operate under BAE Systems growing cyber and security arm BAE Systems Detica with one of the first products expected to be a new cloud based mobile security solution, Vodafone Mobile Threat Manager to be launched this spring.

Initially available to Vodafone’s largest 1,500 enterprise customers this will scan traffic to and from a company’s mobile devices in order to block malicious attacks and inappropriate content.
