Emirates, the launch partner on Skype for Windows 8, has unveiled its first ad campaign for the platform, designed and implemented by Starcom.

The campaign will promote Emirates A380 on the Skype for Windows 8 app homepage and across the instant messaging, audio and video call pages.

Mike Buckley, head of agency sales at Microsoft Advertising, said: “The launch of Windows 8 ads-in-apps poses an exciting opportunity for creatives and brands alike, as the fully integrated user interface creates one ecosystem for brands to reach engaged consumers, across screens.

“We are delighted to announce our collaboration with Emirates on Skype for Windows 8. Working closely with Starcom to deliver a strategy that builds on their broader digital campaign, Skype for Windows 8 was the natural fit. As our exclusive travel partner in the UK, the Emirates campaign was developed around the notion of ‘connecting global citizens’, with the focus to deliver rich, beautiful advertising experiences on this innovative platform.”

The Emirates campaign looks to draw on the fact that both the airline and Skype have the aim of ‘connecting global citizens’.

Sally Armstrong, associate director at Starcom, added: “The innovative digital advertising campaign for Emirates creates a seamless brand experience exactly where personal connections are made using Skype for Windows 8. This is an impactful media first that reaches an engaged, tech-savvy audience in a contextually relevant media environment.”
