Competition Commission provisional findings into Global Radio GMG takeover show 'substantial lessening of competition'
The Competition Commission has revealed provisional findings for the much disputed Global Radio/GMG Radio takeover inquiry.
The findings show that the Competition Commission has objected to parts of the takeover bid on competition grounds, especially where the networks stations overlap.
They define the issue as ‘substantial lessening of competition’ and pinpoint seven areas where potential problems arise including Manchester, The North East and Scotland.
A final decision is likely to be made in April or May of this year with the Competition Commission to continue engagement with both networks – which remain separate trading entities at this time – until then.
