Twitter has added the LOLcat language option to its settings page, allowing users to browse the micro-blogging site in the language made famous by the ‘I can haz?’ meme.

A message from Twitter on Friday evening read: "Happeh Fridai! U can nao change ur language 2 lolcat in Settings. Hope u liek it. https://twitter.com/settings pic.twitter.com/1KAotWsu"

However, rather that individual tweets being transformed into the LOLcat language, it is the page layout which will be changed. For example. "Who to follow" has become "HOO 2 FOLLOW," "home" is now "HUM," "view my profile page" becomes "VIEW MAH PROFILE PUJ" and "expand" has transformed into "EXPAN. KTHX."

The move was made in an effort to highlight Twitter’s translation service.

A tweet from Twitter International later read: “Twitter in Lolcat was a Hack Week project. We hope it increases awareness of how we translate Twitter. Check out https://translate.twitter.com/ ”

LOLcat was made popular by The Cheezburger Network and its CEO, Ben Huhn, which turned pictures of animals into memes.
