The Gibraltar Football Association has announced the appointment of Maverick to help create a rebrand and new proposition as it bids to become a member of the UEFA family.

As part of the campaign, Maverick will devise, develop and implement the GFA communications strategy to gain support amongst current UEFA members, sports media and the general public.

Dennis Beiso, Gibraltar FA, UEFA liaison officer, said: "We were delighted to be made a provisional member of UEFA in 2012, but it is really important to us all that we become a full UEFA member in May and be given the opportunity to compete at the highest level in European football. From our grassroots teams to our national squads, we are looking forward to welcoming UEFA teams to Gibraltar and being part of the wider UEFA family.

“Maverick’s creative expertise and extensive knowledge of brand communications have been vital to help us communicate our story and show everyone our love of football.”

Activity in the run up to the bid, voting for which takes place on 24 May, will encompass brand development, film production, website development, social media strategy and experiential.

Andy Myring, Maverick brand experience director, said: “The people of Gibraltar are passionate about football and have been playing it there for over 120 years. This is a huge win for us – to be given the opportunity to support the GFA at this pivotal point in its history is a real honour. We’re determined to help them become a full and active member of the UEFA.”

Maverick has said that the changes to the GFA identity and repositioning of the GFA proposition will see a complete overhaul of everything from communications materials, events and the national team kit.
