Weve has appointed David Sear as its permanent CEO, replacing Nancy Cruickshank who was launch CEO of the mobile joint venture since last September.

Sear, former divisional managing director of global business payments at Travelex, will take the helm of the mobile marketing and wallet joint venture between EE, O2 and Vodafone as it prepares to accelerate plans to roll out display ad services across its platform.

Prior to his six years at Travelex, Sear spent three years as commercial and scheme managing director at payments firm Voca.

Cruickshank, who is founder of beauty retailer Myshowcase.com and former head of digital investments and acquisitions at Telegraph Media Group, will remain onboard on a part time basis until the end of March 2013.

Weve's chairman Gerry McQuade said, “I am delighted that David is joining at such an exciting time. Weve has been steadily building its capabilities since December and the mobile marketing business is operational and generating revenue. With an opted-in 15 million customer base, the company is at a great starting point to bring to life the full potential of mobile commerce in the UK."

The B2B joint venture, which was cleared by the European Commission last September, has finalised the incorporation of the final shareholder Vodafone to the platform, bringing the combined opt-in customer database to 15 million.
