Media engagement company Shazam has announced it is to open a new Australian office to support its Shazam for TV advertising platform.

The new office will be headed up by regional sales director Steven Sos and will spearhead the company's ongoing growth of the television service in Australia, New Zealand and the broader APAC region.

Shazam CEO Andrew Fisher said Shazam has already enjoyed "tremendous success with our Shazam for TV advertising service in Australia having already partnered with some of the country’s leading brands" adding that moving into the Australian market was a "strategic opportunity for us and we are delighted to be opening our office and hiring a local team".

Speaking of the service and the new office Sos added: "Shazam offers brands in every industry vertical an amazing opportunity to leverage the power of mobile engagement using the second screen to extend people’s interactions with the brand or product from a 30-second ad to several minutes of engagement. Shazam’s unparalleled scale - with seven million users in Australia alone – coupled with its agnostic approach to both device and medium makes Shazam for TV a unique bridge between traditional and digital media."

New campaigns for the region are already underway with more Shazam-enabled ads scheduled to run worldwide in the coming weeks.
