Heineken is to release a multi-million pound TV campaign featuring Manchester United legend Eric Cantona to celebrate the taste of its premium lager brand Kronenbourg 1664.

The 30 second TV advert, created by Ogilvy & Mather, sees Cantona discuss his ‘hero hop farmers of Alsace’, as the brand aims to position the lager as a reward for self-confident men.

Jacco Van Der Linden, UK marketing director for Heineken, explained: “The new ‘A Taste Suprême’ TV campaign is a humorous homage to the farmers in Alsace who nurture the highly-prized Strisselspalt hops that give Kronenbourg 1664 its exceptional taste and aroma.”

Supporting activity for the campaign, which saw media planning and buying handled by MediaVest, includes outdoor, digital and social media and will break on SKY tonight (4 February).
