Instagram reports 90 million monthly users

Instagram has today announced that it has 90 million monthly users, in response to

/news/2013/01/15/instagram-users-down-half-following-copyright-announcements-changes-come-effect">third-party figures released earlier this week which showed a drop in users.

The social sharing website decided to unveil its figures for the first time because of the figures, which said there were only 7.81 million unique users on the site a day.

Founder Kevin Systrom said in a statement: "Instagram continues to see very strong growth around the world.

"With many of the product and internationalization improvements we've made, we've been excited to see these efforts resonate with users globally."

The figures released also found that 40 million pictures are uploaded a day, with 8500 likes per second and 1000 comments per second.

As this is the first time that Instagram has unveiled its figures, it cannot be seen if this figure has dropped from when the company announced its change of terms and conditions.
