ASOS reports retail growth of 41 per cent for December 2012

Online retailer ASOS has reported a growth in retail sales of 41 per cent for December 2012, reaching £78 million.

The company saw retail sales in the UK increase by 34 per cent to £35,660,000 while US sales grew by over half (53 per cent) at £6,232,000.

Total group revenue grew by 40 per cent on the same month in 2011 by 40 per cent, reaching £79,788,000.

Nick Robertson, CEO of ASOS, commented:"Our UK performance was particularly strong at 34 per cent, which continues to be driven by better conversion of traffic alongside continued investment in both our proposition and pricing. Our International business grew by a healthy 47 per cent.

"We remain positive in our outlook for 2012/13 as we continue our journey to becoming the number one online fashion destination for twenty-somethings, globally,” he added.

ASOS also recorded 5.6 million active customers by 31 December 2012, another increase of 40 per cent.
