Republic of Media, Blue State Digital and Zeitgeist have been confirmed as the advertising agencies appointed to handle the pro-UK campaign ‘Better Together’ ahead of the 2014 independence referendum in Scotland.

Zeitgeist has been specially created to handle the campaign by former colleagues from Faulds and The Union Simon Scott and Giles Moffat, while Stuart Feather’s media agency Republic of Media set to act as media planner and buyer.

The team at Zeitgeist have already created the brand identity for Better Together and were rumoured to be set to become the main marketing agency going forward. They will now develop integrated marketing campaign that aim to enforce a positive case for Scotland remaining within the UK.

Giles Moffatt, managing director of Zeitgeist, commented: “In his launch speech in June, Alistair Darling described his role as Chair of Better Together as one of the most important things he will have done in politics. This is undoubtedly going to be the most important campaign Simon and I will work on in our careers. A campaign where the future of Scotland is at stake. It is an honour to be involved.”

Blue State Digital, known for its work on President Obama’s first election campaign, is also working on the digital marketing element of the campaign.

The campaign is being overseen by director of communications Rob Shorthouse, who will oversee the marketing activity as a result.
