Porta Communications has claimed that its annual revenue is now over £16m as its chief executive has announced that it plans to open a new public relations presence within Hong Kong.

A trading update released today for the company for last year says that annual fees of new business in November grew to over £1 million, and that revenue during the second half of 2012 were more than four times higher than the first six months.

As a result, annual revenue is said to have climbed above £16 million.

Commented David Wright, chief executive of Porta Communications; "With all the main advertising and public relations companies within the Group continuing to show strong revenue growth and all expected to be profitable in 2013, the outlook for the current year is extremely encouraging.”

He added that the group strategy to recruit executives in start-up venues, which meant the avoidance of goodwill payments had generated shareholder value and ensured earnings growth for the future as the companies mature.

“It is the Board's intention to maintain this strategy in the current year, particularly in the overseas development, where a number of exciting opportunities have been identified, either through acquisitions or start-ups. The first of these is our new public relations venture in Hong Kong which will also be our launch pad into mainland China,” concluded Wright.
