Mobile advertising company madvertise has this week announced the appointment of Christof Wittig as CEO, as Carsten Frien steps down from the role.

Wittig most recently held the post of managing director at San Francisco based Kii Capital, a venture fund which invests in mobile apps.

He said: “madvertise is in a unique position to capitalize on the explosive growth of the mobile advertising business. I am proud and honored to take over the reins from Carsten, who has done a terrific job as CEO since 2008. Carsten together with fellow management and co-founders have built madvertise to become one of the leading mobile advertising players in Europe today. We will be able to expand on its unique market position in Europe and the cutting edge technology platform the company has developed, to cut a big slice out of the $20 billion mobile advertising market.”

Frien, who will now join the advisory board for madvertise, said: “I am very happy that we have been able to sign up a proven technology CEO with deep international experience to lead the next phase of growth for madvertise. I am looking forward to contribute to the future expansion of the company as a member of the advisory board and support Christof in his new role.”
