RBS head of digital marketing Jim Murray-Jones has been appointed by News International Commercial (NIC) as general manager of driving.co.uk, the new classified advertising site for premium cars.

Murray-Jones will take up the new role in February 2013 and is tasked with developing the websites experience for consumers, car manufacturers and car dealerships. Murray-Jones will also be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business including co-ordinating sales, editorial, technology, and marketing; he will also oversee head of sales Steve O’Meara and sales director Ian Webber.

Prior to joining RBS in July 2010 Murray-Jones held a number of roles in publishing including CEO at TNT Publishing, digital publishing director at Haymarket where he helped oversee the acquisition of Pistonhead.co.uk, and digital publishing director at Auto Trader.

As general manager of driving.co.uk, Murray-Jones will report to NIC managing director Paul Hayes who takes over from launch director and general manager Chris Taylor, who was appointed to the role of chief information officer in September.

Speaking of the appointment Hayes said: “Jim has extensive experience in digital publishing making him the ideal candidate to grow driving.co.uk to enhance the offering for consumers, car manufacturers and dealers.”

Murray-Jones added: “I’m very much looking forward to working with the team to take it to the next level, listening to feedback from advertisers and exploring new ways to build the user experience.”
