Research and development centre for the visual arts Wysing Arts Centre has undergone a website redesign courtesy of branding and design consultancy Silk Pearce.

The site has been redeveloped to demonstrate the breadth of the Bourn-based centre’s work and help it appeal to new audiences, raising awareness of its programme of artist residencies, retreats, exhibitions and educational events.

Silk Pearce’s new design features horizontal scrolling pages with arrows at the edges to tempt users with more content and encourage them to interact with the site. The unconventional approach allows Wysing to showcase larger images of artists’ work and other activities, while also adding a timeline and a multi-layered dimension to several of the sites key pages.

The new site has been built with ease of use in mind; its flexible content management system enables Wysing staff to quickly add new images, text and pages.

Donna Lynas, director of the Wysing Arts Centre, commented: “Silk Pearce has more than delivered and given us a new easy to use website that really does bring all our activities together in an engaging format.”

Visitors to the site can now also listen to recent talks and events, sign up for e-bulletins or join the centre’s mailing list. Wysing’s social media content is also incorporated into the website, and users can make a donation to support the centre and its work as well as visit its online shop, which sells limited edition artworks and publications produced by artists and curators working with Wysing.
