To mark the opening of its Shoreditch office, The Drum has announced the appointment of former NMA journalist Jessica Davies, as senior reporter.

Working from this base in the heart of the UK technology sector, Davies will report on how digital is transforming the marketing scene.

Jessica, who was with NMA for two years-and-a-half, will join a team that also includes former NMA publisher Andy Oakes, and former Haymarket conference head Anne-Marie Sheedy.

Sheedy, who joined The Drum earlier this year to develop The Drum’s conference business, launches the new division’s first event on Wednesday. Four Minute Warning will aim to give delegates insights into what - seemingly insignificant trends - may rapidly overwhelm existing business models.

The appointments cap a year of expansion for The Drum, which according to Google Adplanner saw its website overtake Brand Republic and Marketing Week for the very first time.

Said editor and co-founder Gordon Young: “While other trade titles have been closing down or down-sizing in terms of head count, frequency and circulations The Drum is still prepared to invest so we can give this industry the profile it deserves. In terms of new readers and general goodwill that investment has really started to pay off.”
