Vauxhall works with McCann Birmingham to create 'only one' video marking Steven Gerrard's 100th England cap
England team sponsor Vauxhall has released an online video in celebration of Steven Gerrard’s 100th England Cap.
The video shows the sponsors support for Gerrard, his footballing career and his achievements for England. Upon seeing the film, prior to last night’s match against Sweden, Gerrard said: “It’s a real honour to be playing my 100th game for England tonight and it’s fantastic to receive such great support from Vauxhall.
“The video certainly seems to capture many great highlights from the last twelve years and I’m very grateful for receiving such recognition.”
Created by McCann Birmingham, the video shows a montage of the midfielder’s best moments as key England player, featuring tackles, passes, and goals.
Marketing director of Vauxhall, Peter Hope, added: “As the official sponsor of Home Nations football, the film is an opportunity to offer our congratulations to Steven Gerrard for the success he has generated for the England team throughout his career.”
Vince McSweeney, group creative executive director at McCann Birmingham, commented: “Reaching one hundred caps is such an incredible achievement. We always talk about Vauxhall being 'proud supporters of Home Nations football' and this film shows exactly that!”
The film ends with the tagline ‘There’s only one Steven Gerrard’, and shows an on screen message congratulating him on his 100th cap. Gerrard is currently sixth in the all-time caps list behind Peter Shilton (125), David Beckham (115), Bobby Moore (108), Bobby Charlton (106) and Billy Wright (105).
