Scottish Government's chief marketing officer Gillian Govan to step down

The Scottish Government's chief marketing officer Gillian Govan is to step down it has been announced.

Govan, who has worked at the Scottish Government for over three years, will leave at the end of the year with the intention of opening a social marketing consultancy.

Said Govan: “I’ve built up a successful and resilient team who have delivered strategies and innovative approaches that have, and will continue to, make a real difference to the people of Scotland.

“Working with policy and Ministers we’ve developed world class public engagement which delivers tangible results and the team is now recognised as a centre of excellence. I’m proud of what I have achieved in my time at Scottish Government. I have no doubt that the team will continue their professional and rigorous approach to social marketing and go from strength to strength.”

At the time of writing a successor was not known to be in place.

Govan departs just a few months after Roger Williams, head of marketing and PR at Scottish Government, who took redundancy after 14 years.
