Manchester City has launched a new Facebook app which aims to give the traditional football sticker a 21st century overhaul.

City Stickers goes one better than its paper and glue based cousins by allowing users to transpose their own mugs for those of their favourite players.

Such transformations are made possible thanks to a custom upload facility for users to input their own snaps which can then be superimposed upon six top City stars; including Mario Balotelli, David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

Julian Pate, Head of Marketing for Manchester City, said: “We know fans like to get close to the players, but we thought it would be fun to take that one step further and give them the chance to become their favourite players – or at least see what they’d look like if they were. For anyone who has ever imagined or dreamt of what it would be like to be a City star, this is the app for them.”

The app was devised by City’s marketing and digital team.
