The northern version of The Big Issue has brought in Citypress in Manchester to promote the launch of its digital street magazine.

Digital copies of the magazine will be sold by street venders in a pilot project running across the North of England, where customers will be able to buy a digital access card rather than a hardcopy of the Big Issue. The magazine will be available for view across smartphone, tablet or PC.

Should the trial be a success, the digital edition will also roll out across the north west and Yorkshire.

Charles Tattersall, managing director of Citypress, said: "The Big Issue in the North is an important part of Manchester’s cultural and media landscape. It supports so many people who might otherwise be on the fringes of society with little or no means of making a living. We are very pleased to be supporting the launch of this exciting project on a pro bono basis.”
