President Obama, already struggling over a poor debate performance with challenger Mitt Romney last week, has a new embarrassment today: he's fallen out with Big Bird.

Romney said in the presidential debate he would withdraw funding for US Public Broadcasting and even singled out Sesame Street star Big Bird for the axe.

The Obama team , sensing blood, immediately whipped up this mocking TV ad, starring, of course Big Bird.

The ads features images of notorious corporate villains Bernie Madoff and Ken Lay and suggests that Romney sees Big Bird as the biggest villain of all.

“Mitt Romney knows it’s not Wall Street you have to worry about; it’s Sesame Street,” the narrator says.

Trouble is, all that stuff got right up Big Bird's pecker .

In a statement this morning, Sesame Street said, "Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down."

Will Obama roll over, wings flapping? Watch this space.

At the time of writing , no Big Bird spots had been booked. Never mind, you can watch it here.
