Bakery chain Greggs has launched a new marketing campaign designed to promote its new Halloween themed offering.

The thrust of the digital campaign has come from a viral video entitled ‘Britain Prepare for Zombies: Only Humans Allowed’ which depicts zombies taking over a Greggs shop.

The ad has been supported by a series of live sampling events happening in 14 high footfall locations across the UK throughout October which is hoped will give consumers the opportunity to taste products and to upload pictures with the zombie bakers to a Facebook gallery.

The brand’s Facebook page has also been used to keep followers up to date on when and where these tasting events are happening.

The campaign was developed by Greggs in conjunction with a team of creative agencies: Irresistible Films viral creation; Gratterpalm advertising agency; Steel managing digital; and Havas PR UK.

A Greggs spokesperson said: “Halloween is fun time for customers, whether they are throwing a themed party at home, spending the night in with some nail-biting horror flicks, or out and about trick-or-treating, and our fantastic value limited edition spooky range offers the perfect treat for any Halloween celebration.

“We wanted the viral to capture that fun spirit of Halloween.”
