The £100,000 contract to promote the official Polar Express rides in the UK has been picked up by Cube PR.

Following a competitive pitch, which saw the Manchester agency pitch across Skype in their favourite pyjamas to the railroad company in Chicago, was enough to win against four other agencies.

As a result, the core team of three has been expanded with the appointments of account managers Sarah Dunn and Siobhan Morris, alongside Adele Starkova as account executive.

The appointment will see the agency handle all elements of PR and media buying in order to promote the rides when they arrive in the UK, based on the festive children’s tale.

Press trips and social media activity will also be used, as will the central website.

Debra Goodman, from the Polar Express, commented: : “As we are based so far away in America and have to put a lot of trust in the people handling the campaign on our behalf, it’s important to have an honest relationship with the agency we are working with. We immediately loved the down to earth approach demonstrated by the Cube PR team, and were impressed by the creativity they showed in the ideas put forward at the pitch.

“Turning up in their pyjamas was the finishing touch! It really summed up their originality and playfulness, and certainly made them stand out from the crowd,” added Goodman.
